  • How much more will our heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them who ask

This morning while out to coffee, I watched as a mother entered the store with her two children. They passed by the bakery counter to the order area. They all stood there and mom asked what the children wanted. The older child said he wanted a cinnamon roll. He was very certain about this. Then he hurried over to watch the bakery clerk pick out his cinnamon roll. Then I heard that child declare quite clearly and with a sense of authority, "I want that one back there with all the frosting." The clerk reached in to take out a cinnamon roll. "No. No," the child pointed to the roll he wanted. He was quite adamant, yet at the same time he was not overbearing or rude as he said, "THAT one!"

Are we so persistent in asking our Father for His Holy Spirit?
What kind of things do we persist in asking Him for and yet neglect to ask Him for His Holy Spirit?
Do we not see that His Spirit is our Life?

And he said to them, Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him; 7 and he will answer from within, Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything? 8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. 9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! Luke 11:5-13.

O, heavenly Father, give us a thirst for Your Spirit, a thirst to drink of Your heavenly living waters.

O, heavenly Father, let us not be satisfied with drinking earthly stagnant waters.

O, heavenly Father, only as we drink deeply of You and keep drinking of You will rivers of living water bubble up in us and flow out to a dry and dusty world.

O, heavenly Father, only as we drink deeply of You and keep drinking of You will bring life to dead places.

O, heavenly Father, work in us a greater desire for Your Spirit.

O, heavenly Father, keep us coming to You and asking for Your Spirit.

Without Your Holy Spirit we have no life.

Without Your Holy Spirit we can do nothing.

Without Your Holy Spirit we are impotent.

Without Holy Spirit we cannot bear fruit.

Help us to keep asking, for You have said we will receive.

Help us to keep seeking, for You have said we will find.

Help us to keep knocking, for You have said the door will be opened.

O, heavenly Father, if our earthly fathers know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more do You know how to do so!

O, heavenly Father, help us to seek Your face and keep asking for Your Holy Spirit in the same way that boy sought that cinnamon roll.

O, heavenly Father, Your Spirit is part of our birthright as Your children.

O, heavenly Father, keep reminding us that our own riches, wisdom, strength, power, cleverness and ingenuity are worth nothing in Your Kingdom.

O, heavenly Father, apart from Your Spirit, we are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked.

O, heavenly Father, we come in childlike faith and ask You to pour out Your Spirit on us.

So Your name might be hallowed.

    So Your Kingdom might come.

So Your will might be done here on earth, here in Your Church, as it is in heaven.

    Amen.

Will you please join with me in prayer for His Holy Spirit to come in fullness to His Church?
Please add your prayers here as His Spirit leads you...

(Please note: if you've not already done so please read "About this blog-why tent of meeting" before adding your prayers here. Thank you.)

"he called it the tent of meeting..."

I am burdened to pray to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the reformation and reviving of Christ's church.

The phrase tent of meeting comes from Exodus 33:7: Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp.

This site is devoted to God first and foremost. In all that is done here, my prayer is that God is glorified and His Name magnified and Christ and Him crucified is lifted up so He might be preeminent and God might receive all the praise, honor and glory due His Holy Name. All who have come to a saving knowledge of our Father by grace through faith in the all-sufficient sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are welcome to enter this tent of meeting to seek the Lord.

This blog is a place for all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to come and seek God's face for revival. My intention is for this tent of meeting to be a holy place where we can enter into PRAYER together to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit leads you, please enter into prayer either here (think of "comments" as prayers) or on your own.

Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O LORD, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.
