  • "Thy will be done" - may we no longer strive with Him

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

    –Matthew 6:9-10, KJV

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? 10 Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?
    –Isaiah 45:9-10, KJV

Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, What are you making? or Your work has no handles? 10 Woe to him who says to a father, What are you begetting? or to a woman, With what are you in labor?

    –Isaiah 45:9-10, ESV
Our Father which art in heaven,
    Hallowed be Thy Name.
    Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

How often we strive with You, our Maker!
How often we strive with You, our Father!
How often we strive with You, our Potter!

Does the creature strive with his Creator?
Does the babe strive with his Father?
Does the clay strive with the Potter?

We were once dead to You.
Our hearts were hearts of stone.
In Christ You have taken away our hearts of stone.
You have put Your Spirit within us.
You have made us alive to You.
You have given us warm hearts of flesh.

Yet we confess we have allowed our hearts to grow hard and cold.

Jesus Christ, our Baptizer, come and baptize us with your fire.
Holy Spirit, come to us, sanctify us, purify us.
Your Word is like a fire.
Your Word is like a hammer.
    Thaw our cold hearts.
    Break our hard hearts.

    Give us moldable minds.

that we might no longer strive with You, our Maker
that we might no longer strive with You, our Father
that we might no longer strive with You, our Potter
    Give us moldable hearts
that we might no longer strive with You, our Maker
that we might no longer strive with You, our Father
that we might no longer strive with You, our Potter
    Give us moldable wills.
that we might no longer strive with You, our Maker
that we might no longer strive with You, our Father
that we might no longer strive with You, our Potter

    Your are our Maker.
    You are our Father.
    We are Your new creation.
Do with us as You will.

    You are our Potter.
    We are the clay.
Do with us as You will.

    You are our Father.
    We are Your children.
You have breathed life into us.
    We are Your new creation.
The Spirit of Your Son dwells within us.
So we might no longer pray like the first Adam:

    "My will be done,"
but that we might pray like the last Adam, Your obedient Son:
"Not my will but Yours be done."

    Have Thine own way, Lord!
    (Adelaide A. Pollard, 1907)

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
Power, all power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit ’till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me.

Confess how You have not allowed Your Maker, Your Father and Your Potter to mold you.
Ask Him to make you moldable in His hands.

May He give us a willingness to offer ourselves to be molded as He wills
that we might no longer strive with Him.

  • My Father, You are molding, pressing, pushing down on me . . . I am fearful. I am striving. I know You are a good and loving God. I know You are working this molding, pressing and pushing down on me for my good and for Your glory and for the furtherance of Your Gospel. But I am fearful. I am striving. I am fearful and striving because I know I am no longer in control. I like to be in control but now I am that lump of clay and You are taking me in ways I did not anticipate and in ways that are pressing me and pushing me out beyond myself. You are molding, pressing, pushing down on me. I don't like it when I am no longer in control but I know that it is only when I let you have control, will I truly know peace. You are my Maker, my Potter, my Father. Who am I to strive with You? Why should I fear You? You are taking me and leading me in a pleasant place. Yet I truly feel like Paul now. Knocked off my horse. Blind and incapacitated. You will show me more in Your time but I must wait and trust in You and in Your time. I want to see it all now but You remind me that I must stop striving with You and walk by faith and continue to trust You. Help me to trust Your loving hands are molding, pressing, pushing down on me only so I might become more and more like Jesus. Why should I fear becoming more like Jesus? Why should I not want to give up all that keeps me from looking like Him? I know You will no longer let me continue in my present form. I know I cannot remain in my present form. Let me no longer strive with You. I want to give up myself wholly to You. I know that I need to allow You to continue to mold, press, push down on me to make me more like You. My Maker, my Potter, my Father, be merciful to me, give me a moldable mind, a moldable heart and a moldable will...that I might no longer strive with you so

my mind might no longer be my own but Yours,
my heart might no longer be my own, but Yours.
my will might no longer be my own, but Yours.

Put me into a deep sleep and lay me at the foot of the cross where You fulfilled the covenant for me. Do for me what I cannot do. Circumcise those parts of my heart that remain cold and hard.

Let me no longer strive with You, Lover of my soul, who died for me. Breathe Your life in me so I might willingly die for Thee.
    Amen.

"he called it the tent of meeting..."

I am burdened to pray to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the reformation and reviving of Christ's church.

The phrase tent of meeting comes from Exodus 33:7: Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp.

This site is devoted to God first and foremost. In all that is done here, my prayer is that God is glorified and His Name magnified and Christ and Him crucified is lifted up so He might be preeminent and God might receive all the praise, honor and glory due His Holy Name. All who have come to a saving knowledge of our Father by grace through faith in the all-sufficient sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are welcome to enter this tent of meeting to seek the Lord.

This blog is a place for all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to come and seek God's face for revival. My intention is for this tent of meeting to be a holy place where we can enter into PRAYER together to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit leads you, please enter into prayer either here (think of "comments" as prayers) or on your own.

Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O LORD, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.
