  • What is our soil like today? Is our soil good today?

Here is another prayer of preparation for us to receive God's Word as we will be contemplating and praying over Jesus' words to the seven churches in Revelation 2-3.

    Matthew 13

That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. 2 And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. 3 And he told them many things in parables, saying: A sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, 6 but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. 7 Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. 8 Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears, let him hear. 10 Then the disciples came and said to him, Why do you speak to them in parables? 11 And he answered them, To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12 For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:

You will indeed hear but never understand,
and you will indeed see but never perceive.
15 For this people's heart has grown dull,
and with their ears they can barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed,
lest they should see with their eyes
    and hear with their ears

    and understand with their heart
and turn, and I would heal them.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. 17 Truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

    Our Father,

We thank You that Your opened our ears to hear the good tidings of great joy.

We thank You that You unblinded our eyes so we might see the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ.

We thank You that You softened our hearts to understand and the Gospel.

We thank You that You made our soil good so we could receive Your incorruptible Gospel seed.

    However...

What are our ears like today?

What are our eyes like today?

What are our hearts like today?

What is our soil like today? Is our soil good today?

We may have heard you yesterday, but are our ears open to hear what the Spirit has to say to us today?

We may have heard you yesterday, but are our eyes open to see what the Spirit has to show us today?

We may have heard you yesterday, but are our hearts open to receive what the Spirit has to give us today?

What is our soil like today? Is our soil good today?

Because our hearts are deceitful above all things and desperately sick, You alone can give us true understanding and insight.

We can think we're hearing You but we're not really be hearing.

We can think we're seeing You but we're not really be seeing.

We can think we're receiving You but we're not really receiving.

What is our soil like today? Is our soil good today?

We can too easily be like the people Isaiah described and not know it!

You will indeed hear but never understand,
and you will indeed see but never perceive.
For this people's heart has grown dull,
and with their ears they can barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed,
lest they should see with their eyes
    and hear with their ears
    and understand with their heart
and turn, and I would heal them.

What is our soil like today? Is our soil good today?

Holy Spirit, Please come and search our hearts and test our minds.

Otherwise we can continue to believe we're hearing but we're not really be hearing.

Otherwise we can continue to think we're seeing but we're not really be seeing.

Otherwise we can continue to think we're receiving but we're not really receiving.

How can we hear what You have to say to us if we're not really hearing?

How can we see what You have to show us if we're not seeing?

How can we receive You have to give us if we're not receiving?

What is our soil like today? Is our soil good today?

O God, You alone know our hearts. May Your Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth, lead us into all truth regarding the soil of our hearts. Show us the condition of our the soil of our hearts today. We know we have no life apart from continuing to receive Your seed. And we cannot rightly receive Your seed if we do not have good soil. Have mercy on us. For the sake and the glory of Your Name and for Your Church which bears Your Name, send Your Holy Spirit to work in us so our soil might be good once more and ready to receive Your Word. Be gracious to us so we might receive Your Word like James tells us: Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. May we receive Your Word can we be doers of Your Word and bring glory to You.

Have mercy on us, O God. We cannot open our deaf ears. Open our deaf ears and give us hearing ears.

Have mercy on us, O God. We cannot open our blind eyes. Open our blind eyes and give us seeing eyes.

Have mercy on us, O God. We cannot open our hard hearts. Open our hard hearts and give us soft hearts.

Give us good soil, O God! Make us ready to hear what the Spirit has to say to each of us and to the Church!

Give us good soil, O God! Make us ready to see what the Spirit has to show each of us and to the Church!

Give us good soil, O God! Make us ready to receive what the Spirit has to give to each of us and to the Church!

As His Spirit leads you, please add your prayers here...

  • thank you for this prayer today. please help us to what the spirit would love for us to see, hear and do. please help us to be gentle and kind to all we encounter today, having patience, forgiveness, mercy and grace in our hearts. let us not be quick to judge but quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. help us to seek out the lost, the hurting, the seemingly unloveable. guard our hearts and protect us from unhealthy desires. let our desires be your desires. let us not be too attached to thiis world or unhealthy things. keep us focused and mediated on all that is good, pure, trustworthy, bearing of good fruit, let us praise you today for who you are, and appreciate you more for that and not take your love for granted. help us to love you more unconditionally, knowing full well that it is impossible to do this without your help. so please help us Lord. Help us to love you more. help us to seek you more. help us to be more obedient, more thankful and more Holy. Help us to give you glory in all we do and say. let our goals be your goals. let our priorities be yours. let us see other people the way you want us to see them - precious. help us to treat other people the way you want us to treat them...and help us to treat ourselves the way you want us to...to be humble, but also not to believe satan's lies..help us not to fear, not to believe false guilt or accusations but to be discerning . help us to recognize what comes from you and what is not from you. help us to be people through whom the world will see and know you. in Jesus' name. amen. =)

  • @YouTOme - Amen. We praise you O God, that You are our Helper, our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble.

  • Saw a lot of classmates at my 30-year HS reunion over the weekend. Had a great time that night, but to this day I still catch myself thinking from time to time about how a (nameless) relative's flawed thinking (said the few classmates of mine she saw during HS were too stuck up one minute, then wouldn't allow me to reach out to them the next-HELLO!!! Not the attitude one wants to have when opportunity is right there in front of you.

Lord, forgive me for mishandling that sabotage and show me if my seed can still bear productive fruit.

  • Father, I thank you for @WLCALUM's sensitivity to your Spirit. I confess how many opportunities I miss out on because I am not ready. I remember an opportunity I had in England and I was so excited but then I felt I had no words to say. Afterwards You "asked" me if I had you prayed. Well, yes, I had prayed. But then You "asked" again: Had I prayed by name for this particular person? No, I had not. Forgive me for not praying as I ought. Give me a greater love for the lost sheep, the love like Jesus had for me. Amen.

"he called it the tent of meeting..."

I am burdened to pray to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the reformation and reviving of Christ's church.

The phrase tent of meeting comes from Exodus 33:7: Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp.

This site is devoted to God first and foremost. In all that is done here, my prayer is that God is glorified and His Name magnified and Christ and Him crucified is lifted up so He might be preeminent and God might receive all the praise, honor and glory due His Holy Name. All who have come to a saving knowledge of our Father by grace through faith in the all-sufficient sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are welcome to enter this tent of meeting to seek the Lord.

This blog is a place for all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to come and seek God's face for revival. My intention is for this tent of meeting to be a holy place where we can enter into PRAYER together to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit leads you, please enter into prayer either here (think of "comments" as prayers) or on your own.

Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O LORD, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.
