PREPARATION PRAYER by WLCALUM
Last week I asked many of the friends and subscribers of tent of meeting to pray about writing a prayer related to Revelation 2-3 that I might post here at tent of meeting. Today's prayer is from WLCALUM. The prayer is based on Jesus' words to the church in Smyrna and was originally posted here.
Rev 2:8-11: "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: 'These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you,the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.' "Lord, here in this land, we still have a lot of freedom to put our faith into practice without being interfered with (i. e. attending church services, holding private in-home Bible studies and the like). Off and on, though, one concern this poster has, is how those of us who say we are true Christians would react if those privileges were threatened.
There are lands elsewhere, (China, for one) in which persecution of Christians takes place quite often. I ask that You give Your true servants the discernment to know enough not to be too overly earthbound in thinking--after all, we are but strangers here. Give them the courage to remain true to You, to bear up under their afflictions (no matter how hard they get) and not to lose sight of their eternal reward.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen
Brothers and sisters, please add your own prayers here as the Holy Spirit leads you...

Lord, we thank you for the testimony of the church at Smyrna. We know there are many like them in the world today that are paying a heavy price for their faith. May we be ready when it comes to us in our country. amen
Lord, I would like to ask that you help me not to be so self-absorbed. Suffering saints need you so badly, and You do sustain them. Forgive me for being so selfish. amen
Father, I second @ANVRSADDAY's prayer. We are so selfish. We do not truly understand what it means to take up our cross and follow you. You have asked most of us to do so little for You, and yet we balk. We confess we have not known suffering and hardship as many of our brothers and sisters have known. Comfort and keep these dear ones faithful to you as they experience daily persecution, hardship and suffering for Your Name's sake. I know how difficult it is for me to remain faithful to You even when I do not experience such persecution, hardship and suffering.
By Your grace, guard us and keep us standing faithful until death, so we might receive the crown of life. Keep us ever mindful that the first death is not an end for us, but a beginning: an entrance into life forever in Your presence, the blessed Day when our faith will become sight, when we will finally see You face to face. Keep our eyes fixed on You and on that Day for that is how we will stand firm for You each day no matter what happens to us in this world and in this life.
In Jesus' precious Name. Amen.
