  • Make us zealous for You and Your house

John 2:13 The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple he [Jesus] found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade. 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, Zeal for your house will consume me.

Luke 19:45 And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, 46 saying to them, It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of robbers.

    Isaiah 56:7
I will bring to my holy mountain,
    and make them joyful in my house of prayer;
their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
    will be accepted on my altar;
for my house shall be called a house of prayer
    for all peoples.

    Holy Father, Son and Spirit,

We confess we are often zealous for all sorts of things but You and Your house.
We are Your house, we are Your people, built together by You and for You to inhabit us for Your glory.
How absurd we are not zealous for You and Your house!

We confess we are often all too zealous for any and all things besides those things for which You are zealous. We are Your people, filled with Your Spirit, being transformed and conformed into Your likeness. Ought we not be zealous for what the Lord Jesus Christ was zealous?

We confess we are all too zealous for our families, for our careers, for our leisure activities, for our possessions, for earthly prestige, position, power and mammon, but we do not have the same consuming zeal for You and Your house the Lord Jesus had.

We confess our lukewarmness and indifference toward You and Your house.
Forgive us, O Lord, that we are not zealous for You and Your house.
By the working of Your Holy Spirit who dwells in us, give us a consuming zeal for You and Your house.
Make us zealous for You and Your house like the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, our chief cornerstone.

    Holy Father, Son and Spirit,

We confess we are often zealous for all sorts of things but You and Your house.
We are Your house, we are Your people, built together by You and for You to inhabit us for Your glory.

We confess we are all too zealous for our church activities and endless programs and plans. We confess we have made Your house a den of thieves by lusting after entertainment and seeking earthly means to grow Your Kingdom. We have made a mockery of Your house. If we were truly zealous for Your house, would we not be making every effort to tarry in prayer for Your house, to intercede in prayer for Your house the way the Lord Jesus did while on earth and continues to do so today at the right hand of the Father? Would we not be assembling together with the members of Your house for prayer more often than we do? Would we not be continuing to ask for Your Holy Spirit to come down and baptize and fill us afresh and anew and empower and equip us for the work You have commissioned us to do?

We confess our lukewarmness and indifference toward You and Your house.
Forgive us, O Lord, that we are not zealous for You and Your house.
By the working of Your Holy Spirit Who dwells in us, give us a consuming zeal for You and Your house.
Make us zealous for You and Your house like the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, our chief cornerstone.

How zealous are we for You and Your house? For Your Kingdom? For Your presence? For Your Word? For Your Gospel? For Your glory? For Your renown? For Your blessed Name?

We confess our lukewarmness and indifference toward You and Your house.
Forgive us, O Lord, that we are not zealous for You and Your house.

How zealous are we that Your house be a house of prayer for all people? How can we not be zealous for the lost and perishing souls around us who have not yet heard Your Word? How can we remain sequestered away in Your house knowing there are other lost sheep who must be gathered in? How can they come to Your Holy mountain, to Your house, if they have not heard? How can they hear if we do not go and speak to them?

We confess our lukewarmness and indifference toward You and Your house.
Forgive us, O Lord, that we are not zealous for You and Your house.
By the working of Your Holy Spirit Who dwells in us, give us a consuming zeal for You and Your house.

How can we say we are zealous for Your Kingdom when we spend precious little time praying for Your Kingdom to come? How zealous are we when we spend little time in praying Your might open a door for us to speak? How zealous are we when we spend little time praying Your might make our words clear as we proclaim Your Word? How zealous are we when we spend little time praying for You to send laborers into the harvest? How zealous are we when we spend so little time praying You to soften the hearts of lost souls to receive Your Word?

We confess our lukewarmness and indifference toward You and Your house.
Forgive us, O Lord, that we are not zealous for You and Your house.

Please add your prayers of confession and prayers for zeal for our God and His house as His Spirit leads you...

  • Has the fullness of time not yet come?

In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son . . . Galatians 4:3-4a

    Our Father,

We confess we have once again become children.

We drink milk when we should be eating meat.

We are unwise as to what is good and infants regarding evil.

We build on sand rather than on the Rock.

We are withering instead of abiding in the Vine and bearing fruit.

We each do what is right in his his eyes rather than what is right in Your eyes.

We trust in our own wisdom rather than You.

We rely on our own might rather than You.

We make our own plans and ask You to bless them.

We walk in the broad way of the world rather than the narrow way of Life.

We confessing You as Lord but not making You Lord.

We confess we have become enslaved to the world and to our flesh.

Holy Father, when the fullness of time had come You sent Your only begotten Son...

After the Lord Jesus Christ lived a holy life here, coming not to be served but to serve, wholly submitting Himself to Your will for Him, having finished the work You had sent Him to do, He was crucified, died and was buried. Then He was raised from the dead and declared to be Your Son with power. After His ascension to Your right hand in glory, You did not leave us as orphans, but Your Spirit was sent to dwell with us forever.

We confess how we have continued to grieve, quench and limit Your Holy Spirit.

We confess how we have once again become children.

Forgive us, O Father, for Jesus' sake. Cleanse us, O Father, for Jesus' sake.

Now we ask You humbly, yet boldly, for what You have told us to ask for...no — for Whom You have told us to ask...

Father, You have promised us You would send Your Holy Spirit to Your children who ask You.

So we are coming to ask You. Yes, we know we have Your Spirit indwelling us, but yet we are asking. Asking for a fresh infilling. You have told us to be filled with the Spirit. We cannot fill ourselves. We cannot make this happen, but we can ask. We cannot manipulate You, but we can ask. We have seen how You have blessed Your people in the past by the sovereign movement of Your Spirit not only in individual lives, but in large numbers of people, when the Church was at her lowest, Your sovereign Spirit came to breathe life into the dead Church and revive her.

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

O, Holy Father, do You not see the state of Your Church. We are grieved when we see how we are falling so short of Your glory. Are You not even more grieved?

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

You are our Father. We are Your children. We bow before You, yet we come knowing You will hear us as we ask in the Name of Jesus. Will You not freely give us all things? Have You not promised to give Your Holy Spirit to those who ask You. So, here we are, lying at Your throne and begging of You. Our hands are empty. Our mouths are empty. We have nothing apart from You. We are nothing apart from You. Will You not look with pity on us? We are Your children. Do You not hear our groaning? Is not Your Spirit groaning along with us? O, Father, remember the new covenant You have made with us through Your only begotten Son. We are Yours.

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

We have seen how we have become children in so many ways.

How childish and immature we are. How lukewarm and apathetic we are. How powerless and ineffective we are.

You have called us to be holy. You have called us to be bold. You have called us to turn the world upside down. We are failing. The fault lies wholly with us, not with You.

Forgive us, O Father, for making a mockery of Your love for us.
Forgive us, O Son, for showing contempt for Your blood shed for us.
Forgive us, O Spirit, for limiting Your work in us.

We have seen that we have no other recourse but to call on You. We can do nothing apart from You. We can do nothing to revive ourselves. What has been begun by Your Spirit can only be continued and brought to full fruition by Your Spirit. Will You leave us as we are?

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

Can we continue to be childish? Can we continue to be immature? Can we continue to be lukewarm? Can we continue to be apathetic. Can we continue to be powerless? Can we continue to be ineffective?

We are groaning. We are crying out to You. Are You not the God who sees and hears us? Will You not have mercy on us and be gracious to us for the sake of Your Name?

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

Father, we are desperate here. How can our childishness and immaturity bring You glory? How can our lukewarmness and apathy bring You glory? How can our powerlessness and ineffectiveness bring You glory?

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

For the sake of Your blessed and holy and pure and wonderful Name, will You not look with favor on us, because we are Your children, because we are Your sheep, because we are Yours bought with the blood of Your Son and once again do a mighty thing like You did by sending Your Son. Send Your Spirit once more, O Father, so we might bring You glory and honor and praise as You have intended. Revive us, Almighty God. We have no ability, we have no passion, we have no power apart from You. Breathe into our dry bones.

    Come again to us.

    To refresh what is arid.

    To renew what is weak.

    To restore what is decayed.

    To revive what is unconscious.

    To resurrect what is dead.

    To rebuild what is wrecked.

    To reclaim what is ravaged.

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

Holy Father, have mercy on us and be gracious to us for Jesus' sake. We know we do not deserve anything except through our Mediator. We come in His blessed Name, through His Body and Blood, to Your throne. You have told us to come in our time of need. Is this not a great time of need?

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

We are poor and needy. We no longer what to remain in the pig sty. We are coming home, Father. Look with favor on us for Jesus' sake. We are Your adopted children. Will you not send Your Spirit to us? We know we cannot continue on as we are.

Father, look on us, be merciful to us, hear our prayers for Your Name sake. Make us a praise in the earth. Make us the shining city on a hill You have intended us to be.

Has the fullness of time not yet come?

Please add your prayers for the Holy Spirit to come and revive you and the Church as He leads you...
  • Give us eyes to see how blind and poor we are (Church at Laodicea)

Returning once again to Jesus' words to the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3...

Today's prayer is based Jesus' words to the Church at Laodicea:

14 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.

15 “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.

19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

    Lord Jesus Christ,

You know us better than we know ourselves.
    You know our works...

Give us ears to hear Your counsel (not the world's counsel, not our own counsel...).

You know us better than we know ourselves.
    You know our works...

Give us ears to hear what Your Spirit is saying to us today, to all of us as Your Church.
Give us ears to hear what Your Spirit is saying to us today, to each of us as individuals.

You know us better than we know ourselves.
    You know our works...

Give us eyes to see how blind we are.
We have become blinded to our blindness.
We have become blinded to our poverty.
We have become blinded to our lukewarmness.
We have become blinded to our wretchedness.
We have become blinded to our pitiableness.
We have become blinded to our nakedness.
We have become blinded to our sinfulness.
Anoint our eyes with the Spirit's salve that we may see You.
Anoint our eyes with the Spirit's salve that we may see ourselves as You see us, lest You spew us out of Your mouth.

You know us better than we know ourselves.
    You know our works...

Give us eyes to see how poor we are.
We have become enamored with self.
We have become enamored with ourselves.
We have become enamored with our possessions.
We have become enamored with our wisdom.
We have become enamored with our programs.
We have become enamored with our power.
We have become enamored with our position.
We have become enamored with our riches.
We have become enamored with our own good works.
Anoint our eyes with the Spirit's salve that we may see You.
Anoint our eyes with the Spirit's salve that we may see ourselves as You see us lest You spew us out of Your mouth.

You know us better than we know ourselves.
    You know our works...

Be gracious to us, give us eyes to see how blind we are, so we might be zealous and repent.
Be gracious to us, give us eyes to see how poor we are, so we might be zealous and repent.

Because You love us, You reprove us.
Be gracious to us, give us ears to hear your reproof.

Because You love us, You discipline us.
Be gracious to us, give us hearts to receive Your discipline.

Because You love us, You call us and lead us to repentance.
Be gracious to us, so we might be zealous and repent.

Be gracious to us, give us ears to hear You, so we might be zealous and repent.

Please add your prayers below as God's Holy Spirit leads you.

"he called it the tent of meeting..."

I am burdened to pray to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the reformation and reviving of Christ's church.

The phrase tent of meeting comes from Exodus 33:7: Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp.

This site is devoted to God first and foremost. In all that is done here, my prayer is that God is glorified and His Name magnified and Christ and Him crucified is lifted up so He might be preeminent and God might receive all the praise, honor and glory due His Holy Name. All who have come to a saving knowledge of our Father by grace through faith in the all-sufficient sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are welcome to enter this tent of meeting to seek the Lord.

This blog is a place for all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to come and seek God's face for revival. My intention is for this tent of meeting to be a holy place where we can enter into PRAYER together to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit leads you, please enter into prayer either here (think of "comments" as prayers) or on your own.

Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O LORD, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.
