  • "Thy will be done" - may we no longer strive with Him

    After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

    –Matthew 6:9-10, KJV

    Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? 10 Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?
    –Isaiah 45:9-10, KJV

    Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, What are you making? or Your work has no handles? 10 Woe to him who says to a father, What are you begetting? or to a woman, With what are you in labor?

    –Isaiah 45:9-10, ESV
    Our Father which art in heaven,
    Hallowed be Thy Name.
    Thy Kingdom come.
    Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

    How often we strive with You, our Maker!
    How often we strive with You, our Father!
    How often we strive with You, our Potter!

    Does the creature strive with his Creator?
    Does the babe strive with his Father?
    Does the clay strive with the Potter?

    We were once dead to You.
    Our hearts were hearts of stone.
    In Christ You have taken away our hearts of stone.
    You have put Your Spirit within us.
    You have made us alive to You.
    You have given us warm hearts of flesh.

    Yet we confess we have allowed our hearts to grow hard and cold.

    Jesus Christ, our Baptizer, come and baptize us with your fire.
    Holy Spirit, come to us, sanctify us, purify us.
    Your Word is like a fire.
    Your Word is like a hammer.
    Thaw our cold hearts.
    Break our hard hearts.

    Give us moldable minds.

    that we might no longer strive with You, our Maker
    that we might no longer strive with You, our Father
    that we might no longer strive with You, our Potter
    Give us moldable hearts
    that we might no longer strive with You, our Maker
    that we might no longer strive with You, our Father
    that we might no longer strive with You, our Potter
    Give us moldable wills.
    that we might no longer strive with You, our Maker
    that we might no longer strive with You, our Father
    that we might no longer strive with You, our Potter

    Your are our Maker.
    You are our Father.
    We are Your new creation.
    Do with us as You will.

    You are our Potter.
    We are the clay.
    Do with us as You will.

    You are our Father.
    We are Your children.
    You have breathed life into us.
    We are Your new creation.
    The Spirit of Your Son dwells within us.
    So we might no longer pray like the first Adam:

    "My will be done,"
    but that we might pray like the last Adam, Your obedient Son:
    "Not my will but Yours be done."

    Have Thine own way, Lord!
    (Adelaide A. Pollard, 1907)

    Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
          Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
    Mold me and make me after Thy will,
         While I am waiting, yielded and still.

    Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
         Search me and try me, Master, today!
    Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
         As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

    Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
         Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
    Power, all power, surely is Thine!
         Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

    Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
         Hold o’er my being absolute sway!
    Fill with Thy Spirit ’till all shall see
         Christ only, always, living in me.

    Confess how You have not allowed Your Maker, Your Father and Your Potter to mold you.
    Ask Him to make you moldable in His hands.

    May He give us a willingness to offer ourselves to be molded as He wills
    that we might no longer strive with Him.

  • "how wondrous great is thine exalted name"

    After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Matthew 6:9.

    Now it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. 6 It has been testified somewhere,

    What is man, that you are mindful of him,
    or the son of man, that you care for him?
    7 You made him for a little while lower than the angels;
    you have crowned him with glory and honor,
    8 putting everything in subjection under his feet.

    Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. 9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. 10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. 11 For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one origin. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, 12 saying,

    I will tell of your name to my brothers;
    in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.

    13 And again,

    I will put my trust in him.

    And again,

    Behold, I and the children God has given me.

    14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

    –Hebrews 2:5-18
    Hallow His Name today as you reflect on Christ's condescension and glorification.
    PSALM VIII
    (Isaac Watts)

    Christ's condescension and glorification

    O LORD, our Lord, how wondrous great
    Is thine exalted name!
    The glories of thy heav'nly state
    Let men and babes proclaim.

    When I behold thy works on high,
    The moon that rules the night,
    And stars that well adorn the sky,
    Those moving worlds of light;

    Lord, what is man, or all his race,
    Who dwells so far below,
    That thou shouldst visit him with grace,
    And love his nature so?

    That thine eternal Son should bear
    To take a mortal form;
    Made lower than his angels are,
    To save a dying worm?

    [Yet while he lived on earth unknown,
    And men would not adore,
    Th' obedient seas and fishes own
    His Godhead and his power.

    The waves lay spread beneath his feet;
    And fish, at his command,
    Bring their large shoals to Peter's feet,
    Bring tribute to his hand.

    These lesser glories of the Son
    Shone through the fleshly cloud;
    Now, we behold him on his throne,
    And men confess him God.]

    Let him be crowned with majesty,
    Who bowed his head to death;
    And be his honors sounded high,
    By all things that have breath.

    Jesus, our Lord, how wondrous great
    Is thine exalted name!
    The glories of thy heav'nly state
    Let the whole earth proclaim.

    Jesus, our Lord, how wondrous great is Your exalted name! May You sanctify both our lips and our lives to proclaim Your glories.

    Reflect on His condescension and glorification. As He leads you, please bring Your praises before Him now and hallow His exalted name, which is wondrous and great.

  • Let us "Behold the Throne of Grace!" (John Newton)

    Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:19-22.

    Galatians 3:26b ...for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

    Galatians 4:1 I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, 2 but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. 3 In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. 4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba! Father! 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

    Holy Father,

    You have adopted us as Your sons and daughters. We are heirs by faith in Your Son the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet how often do we fail to enter into prayer at Your throne of grace. How often do we neglect the birthright Your Son purchased for us through His Body and Blood. We are so like Esau. We confess that we often fail to recognize our position in Christ. How often do we forget we are His joint heirs and can enter into the most holy place with Him. How often do we neglect this most high privilege. How often do we forget we were born again so we might have fellowship with You. How often do we forget You are waiting for us to cry, "Abba! Father!" Forgive us, Father, that we too often forget we are Your children.

    We have been washed and cleansed by the blood of Christ. We are Your sons and daughters. We are Your heirs. Through Jesus Christ, the way is now open for us to come boldly with a full assurance of faith to Your throne of grace. Yet how often do we do any and all things but come into Your presence. How busy we are with all sorts of activities. How often do we find time for so many other things, yet can we not find time to watch with Your Son for an hour in prayer. How often do we neglect to come to Your throne of grace. We do all sorts of things except to tarry in prayer. Forgive us, Father, that we do not value the privilege we have to come to Your throne. Help us to value the privilege of prayer You have given us.

    How often do we continue to rely on ourselves. We continue to labor using our pitiful wisdom, meager strength and worldly resources. We can never do Your Kingdom work in our own strength, yet we try and try. We can never revive the Church in our own power because apart from Your life, we have no life. How often we forget that You are the God who can do immeasurably above all we can ask or imagine. We forget we are poor and needy. We forget our need of our mercy and grace. We linger in the pig sty rather than running Home to receive an abundant feast from Your loving hand. Forgive us, Father, for relying on ourselves. Show us our poverty of spirit, so we might see our need of Your riches. Show us our insufficiency so we might wholly learn to rely on Your sufficiency. Help us to see the vital necessity of prayer so we might finish the work You have sent us into the world to do for You.

    May we know all the blessings You have given freely to us through the cross of Christ. May we truly treasure and embrace the privilege we have to come to Your mercy seat. Our Father, make us single-eyed for You. May we behold Your throne of grace and see all You have made available to us as we come there. Give us a greater and deeper hunger and desire to draw near to You and to Your throne for there is no help or hope for us or for Your Church apart from You.

    Our Father, thank You for hearing us. We praise and thank You for sending Your Son to open the way for us to come to You.

    Our Father, we know You hear our prayers because we come to You through the new and living way, through Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Amen.

    Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16.

    Behold the Throne of Grace!
    (John Newton, 1779)

    Behold the throne of grace,
    The promise calls us near,
    There Jesus shows a smiling face
    And waits to answer prayer.

    That rich atoning blood,
    Which sprinkled round we see,
    Provides for those who come to God
    An all prevailing plea.

    My soul ask what thou wilt;
    Thou canst not be too bold;
    Since His own blood for thee He spilt,
    What else can He withhold.

    Beyond thy utmost wants
    His love and pow'r can bless;
    To praying souls He always grants,
    More than they can express.

    Since 'tis the Lord's command,
    My mouth I open wide;
    Lord open Thou Thy bounteous hand,
    That I may be supplied.

    Thine image, Lord, bestow,
    Thy presence and Thy love;
    I ask to serve Thee here below,
    And reign with Thee above.

    Teach me to live by faith,
    Conform my will to Thine;
    Let me victorious be in death,
    And then in glory shine.

    If Thou these blessings give,
    And wilt my portion be;
    Cheerful the world's poor toys I leave,
    To them who know not Thee.

    My brothers and sisters, joint-heirs with Jesus, as our Father leads you, please come boldly to His throne of grace...

"he called it the tent of meeting..."

I am burdened to pray to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the reformation and reviving of Christ's church.

The phrase tent of meeting comes from Exodus 33:7: Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp.

This site is devoted to God first and foremost. In all that is done here, my prayer is that God is glorified and His Name magnified and Christ and Him crucified is lifted up so He might be preeminent and God might receive all the praise, honor and glory due His Holy Name. All who have come to a saving knowledge of our Father by grace through faith in the all-sufficient sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are welcome to enter this tent of meeting to seek the Lord.

This blog is a place for all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to come and seek God's face for revival. My intention is for this tent of meeting to be a holy place where we can enter into PRAYER together to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit leads you, please enter into prayer either here (think of "comments" as prayers) or on your own.

Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O LORD, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.
