the Lord's prayer

  • I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain." – Isaiah 45:19b

Isaiah 45:19b I did NOT say to the offspring of Jacob, "SEEK me IN VAIN."

Luke 11:9  And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; SEEK, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10  For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11  What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12  or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13  If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

I Corinthians 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is NOT IN VAIN.

We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, that we are Your offspring by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We thank You for Your words to encourage us to persevere as we seek You in prayer:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, though You have hidden Yourself today, though we have prayed and we may not have heard Your answer this day, yet You have assured us with Your words:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, though we seek day after day, though we labor in prayer day after day, and though we may feel it to be in vain, yet You have assured us with Your words:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."
We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, though You hide Yourself today, though we have prayed, though we have asked and it may have not been given to us this day, yet You have assured us with Your words:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, though You hide Yourself today, though we have prayed, though we have sought and we may have not found this day, yet You have assured us with Your words:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, though You hide Yourself today, though we have prayed, though we have knocked and it may not have been opened to us day, yet You have assured us with Your words:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, though we are weak, You have condescended to us for You have known our frame and You have remembered we are dust, and You have given us Your assuring words:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, though there are times we faint and we do not pray as we ought, You persevere with us. Forgive us, O God of Israel, for our unfaithfulness. Thank You, for Your faithfulness. Thank You that You never faint. We praise and thank You for Your words given to us to so we might persevere in prayer:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

We praise and thank You, O God of Israel, though there are times we do not pray as we ought and we faint, You persevere with us. Forgive us, O God of Israel, for our unfaithfulness. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You that You continue to pray for us. We praise and thank You for Your words given to us so we might persevere in prayer:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

O God of Israel, Come to us, strengthen us in our labor in You – equip us for this work of seeking You, this work of prayer – so we might be steadfast, immovable and always abounding in this work of prayer – for we know that our seeking You, our labor in You, is never in vain. We hold onto and rest in Your sure promise to us:

I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in vain."

    Amen.

*Please add Your prayers for perseverance in prayer as the Holy Spirit leads you.*

  • may we welcome our Father's discipline as we do our daily bread

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins...

    –Luke 11:2-4, KJV

And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,

nor be weary when reproved by him.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and chastises every son whom he receives.

7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

    –Hebrews 12:5-11

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.

    –Revelation 3:19

    Loving Father,

It is your kindness that leads us to repentance. How can we repent of our sins if we do not see our sins? O, how we need Your loving Fatherly discipline and chastening each day, as much as, or if not more than our daily bread. Without regular confession and cleansing our fellowship with You is broken. We may have physical life but our life with You is retarded. How can we confess our sins and receive your cleansing and forgiveness unless we know our sins? Give us grace to welcome Your discipline as we do our daily bread.

O, may we not despise Your chastening.
O, may we not be discouraged when You rebuke us.

May we see Your chastening and rebukes as Your gifts of love to us. You only chasten and rebuke those whom You love. You only chasten and rebuke Your children. Your Fatherly discipline reminds us of Your love for us. For what son or daughter is there whom a father does not discipline? As you chasten and rebuke us, You are dealing with us as Your sons. Your discipline is a reminder we are Your legitimate children, having been led by Your Spirit into Your family as we received the Lord Jesus Christ and believed on His Name.

O, may we not despise Your chastening.
O, may we not be discouraged when You rebuke us.

We need not fear You or Your chastening or Your rebukes because Your perfect love casts out fear. We know we stand before You because of Christ's righteousness alone. Not only can we have boldness in the day of judgment, but we can have confidence today even as You chasten and rebuke us because Jesus Christ is our Surety. He is holding in the veil for us. Even now He is interceding for us at Your right hand. Even now as we confess our sins Your are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness for Jesus' sake.

O, may we not despise Your chastening.
O, may we not be discouraged when You rebuke us.

Our Father, We know that You are working all things for our good because we are the called according to Your purpose and we love You. We can only love You because You first loved us and sent Your Son to atone for our sin. We know Your chastening is for our good. We know Your rebukes are for our good. O, holy Father, may we welcome Your chastening and rebukes for we know they are for our good, that we might partake of Your holiness.

O, may we not despise Your chastening.
O, may we not be discouraged when You rebuke us.

Our Father, We know that You want to give Your children good gifts, so we know that when You must chasten us and when You must rebuke us, those are Your good gifts to us, they are for our profit and they are for Your glory. O, yes, these things are not always pleasant at the time but are painful and grievous, but we have full confidence that they are part of Your sanctifying work in us to yield the peaceable fruit of righteousness as we have been trained by them.

O, may we not despise Your chastening.
O, may we not be discouraged when You rebuke us.

Our Father, Give us grace to welcome Your discipline. You only chasten and rebuke us so we might be conformed to the image of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit, give us ears to hear what You have to say to us. Give us a desire to be holy as our Father in heaven is holy. Give us hearts to embrace our Father's chastening and rebukes. Loving Father, as You chasten and rebuke us, may we be zealous and repent of our sin. Jesus Christ gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works (Titus 2:14). May Your discipline work in us so we might be a people pure and holy and zealous for good works to Your glory.

O, may we not despise Your chastening.
O, may we not be discouraged when You rebuke us.

Ask the Father to help You accept and embrace His loving discipline as He sends it to you.
May we welcome His discipline as we do our daily bread.

O, may we not despise His chastening.
O, may we not be discouraged when He rebukes us.

  • Forgive us for not bowing to You, O King

The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

    –Psalm 103:19

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? 40 And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. 41 Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me. 44 Then they also will answer, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you? 45 Then he will answer them, saying, Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me. 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

    –Matthew 25:31-46

    Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.

    Psalm 2:1-3

For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes...16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel.

    –Romans 10:3-4

So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. 21 Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name? 23 And then will I declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness. 24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

    –Matthew 7:17-24

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

    –Matthew 6:9-13

God in heaven, hear us today from Your holy hill of Zion, where You reign over all,

Holy Father and Blessed Son of God,  Please send us Your Holy Spirit this day so we might rightly examine our hearts. Our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked.

If we have truly obeyed the Gospel, Christ's life has come to us through Your Holy Spirit. And then Your commandments to us are not burdensome. If we are Christ's, then God is our Father, and we ought to be more and more be desiring our Father's will as the Son did. As Your Holy Spirit reigns in us, we ought to be more and more delighting to do the Father's will and submitting ourselves to the Kingship of Jesus Christ.

How often do we make ourselves kings and place ourselves on the throne! How often we serve ourselves rather than serving You with fear. Forgive us. Cleanse us and purify us from our desire to be king and to serve ourselves. Sanctify our hearts, souls and mind so we might desire to make You alone King.

You have said that by our works we ought to be known. Father, we confess that our works are often not works of Your Kingdom. So often our works do not spring from Your Kingdom power. So often our works do not reflect Your Kingdom priorities. We confess that we do not always do the things You say. We confess that we work out of our own power. We confess that we seek our own kingdoms rather than seeking first Your Kingdom. Forgive us our sins, O Father, for Jesus' sake, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. You have put Your Holy Spirit into us that we might seek first Your Kingdom. Forgive us for the times we have grieved and quenched Your Holy Spirit.

We have been united with Christ, and therefore, we have the Spirit of Christ. Help us to live in perfect union with You. We ought to be growing more and more like Your Son for we have been buried with Him in baptism and raised Him in resurrection life. Yet, we still struggle here with our sin. Help us to reckon ourselves dead to sin but alive to righteousness. Help us to mortify sin so we might live to You alone. O King, You alone ought to have dominion over us. Sin ought not have dominion over us, but we confess it still does. We cannot defeat indwelling sin in our own power, we cannot fight the world's temptations or Satan's schemes in our power power. May Your resurrection power descend once more into our hearts so we might no longer live our lives for the lusts of our flesh but live our lives for You, O King. Help us not to grieve or quench Your Holy Spirit.

May we no longer battle with You for the kingship of our souls, but may we bow our hearts, souls, minds and strength to You alone. May we treat You as King, for that is Who You are. May Your Kingdom grow in us so each one of us might truly love You with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind and all our strength and love our neighbors as ourselves and so bring glory to You. For You have created us to love You and obey You and glorify You. We can only love You and obey You because You first loved us. You have placed Your love in us. Help us love you, O Father, as You demand and as You deserve and as You desire. We confess that our love for You is so small, yet we can say that we love You because You first loved us through Jesus Christ. And because we love You, we ought to love Your commands. Increase our love for You. The more we love You, the more we will love Your Word and love Your commandments and love to do Your will. We thank You that You have promised to complete this work in us. Help us now to work out our salvation with fear and trembling because it is You who works in us to will and to do of Your good pleasure.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

    –Isaiah 9:7

Come before our King now and ask His Holy Spirit to show you where you have not made Him King. Ask Him to give You a heart of repentance, so you might confess your sin and ask for His forgiveness and cleansing. Then ask for His power to dwell in you to make Him King as you ought. May His Spirit sanctify us so we might live our lives in submission to His Kingship. May His Kingdom power come to us so that in and through us His will be done here on earth as it is in heaven so His Name might be hallowed and King exalted. Amen.

"he called it the tent of meeting..."

I am burdened to pray to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the reformation and reviving of Christ's church.

The phrase tent of meeting comes from Exodus 33:7: Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp.

This site is devoted to God first and foremost. In all that is done here, my prayer is that God is glorified and His Name magnified and Christ and Him crucified is lifted up so He might be preeminent and God might receive all the praise, honor and glory due His Holy Name. All who have come to a saving knowledge of our Father by grace through faith in the all-sufficient sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are welcome to enter this tent of meeting to seek the Lord.

This blog is a place for all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to come and seek God's face for revival. My intention is for this tent of meeting to be a holy place where we can enter into PRAYER together to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit leads you, please enter into prayer either here (think of "comments" as prayers) or on your own.

Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O LORD, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.
